Where can you get handmade ashtrays in India?

Search for an ashtray in India and you get three things: pressed steel, moulded glass, and novelty pieces shipped in from somewhere else. What you almost never find is one somebody made by hand, in ceramic, meant to be looked at.

That gap is the reason ashed.in exists. We are India's first and only ashtray brand: every piece is shaped in ceramic, fired, glazed and finished one at a time in our studio in India. Two of them — Puff and Swirl — are also painted by hand, so no two are ever the same.

What handmade means here. A form that started as a sculpture, not a stamping die. Glaze applied and fired, so the surface wipes clean and holds no smell. Small variations between pieces — a line that sits slightly differently, a glaze that pooled a little deeper — which is how you know a person made it.

What we make. Seven pieces, each of them an object first: a playing card in ceramic (Ace), a bulldog mid-bark (Guard), a crab (Pinch), the clog in black glaze (Obsidian Croc), a stone (Rock), and the two hand-painted pieces. They're grouped as Phylum, Unconventional and Hand crafted.
